One of the inspirations for starting this blog is the LEGO set I recently found — the LEGO® Ideas 21318 Tree House.
And when I say found, I mean I saw it and immediately thought:
“I really, really want that.” 😂
I’m the type of person who doesn’t really buy stuff just out of a whim but once I see something that I truly want or like, I gotta have it. And this tree house, is the one for me.
But before I start my LEGO Tree House series, allow me to tell you bit of how it all began.
It all started with my girls
My daughters, especially my youngest, were really into LEGO when they were little. I bought them different sets over the years, and there was something I really loved about watching them sit down and create something from a pile of colourful bricks.
One of the things I bought was a LEGO storage and play mat, which was honestly brilliant.
The idea was simple: open it up, build on the mat, and when you’re finished, just gather everything up, pull the mat in and swoop it all back into the bag.
Perfect.
No stepping on LEGO bricks in the middle of the night.
Well… less chance of stepping on LEGO bricks anyway. 😂
Trip to LEGOLAND
In 2017, we went to LEGOLAND Windsor, and we had such a great time.
The kids loved it, of course. We went on all the rides, enjoyed walking around looking at the mini brick villages. And came home with some little LEGO sets.
At that point, though, I still thought of LEGO as something primarily for children.
I knew people liked LEGO. I knew grown-ups collected things. But the idea that there was a whole world of adults who built LEGO sets simply because they wanted to?
That was completely new to me. Honestly, I was completely clueless. 😂
Now My LEGO journey begins…
I can’t wait to get started. 3,036 pieces. YAIKS! 😂
I’m not an expert builder nor have years of LEGO experience and I’m not someone who knows every piece, technique or bit of LEGO terminology. I’m just someone who discovered that sitting down with a box of bricks and following the instructions can actually be a really nice way to switch off for a while.
If I’m going to start sharing my creative chaos, I might as well start with a project that is going to give me plenty of it.
